Gangotri and Yamunotri Do Dham Package
Yamunotri, the Yamuna River's source, is the westernmost shrine in Chardham. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Yamuna and is located on the summit of Bandar Poonch Parvat. Although the Champasar Glacier or the Yamunotri Glacier, which is 1 km from the temple on Kalind Mountain but inaccessible, is the river Yamuna's true source, the temple itself is revered as the source of Yamuna. From Janki Chatti, Yamunotri is accessible after a 7 mile hike.
The god that resides here is made of black marble, and the temple was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal on the banks of the river. Hindu mythology accords the Yamuna river the status of a goddess mother because of its contribution to the development of the Gangetic plain civilization. The Surya Kund is the most significant of the Kunds formed by hot water springs close to the temple. The Divya Shila rock is located close to this kund. Before the god, the Divya Shila is worshipped. People who practise devotion prepare rice and potatoes by immersing them in hot springs and tying them in muslin cloth before offering them to the god. The rice is brought back as a gift. Due of the area's propensity for severe snowfall, the temple is kept closed throughout the winter.
